PE and Sport Premium at Saint Ambrose Barlow

At Saint Ambrose Barlow, we recognise the vital role that Physical Education (PE) and sport play in the health and well-being of our children. We believe that an innovative and varied PE curriculum has a positive impact on concentration, attitude, and academic achievement.

Our Objectives: Using the statutory PE and Sport Premium funding, we aim to:

  • Increase Staff Confidence: Professional development for teachers to ensure high-quality PE for years to come.

  • Broaden the Range of Sports: Offering a variety of activities to engage all pupils (e.g., Archery, Kin Ball, MMA).

  • Competitive Sport: Increasing participation in the Wigan School Games and local inter-school competitions.

  • Active Lifestyles: Encouraging 30 minutes of physical activity within the school day (e.g., Active Minutes – CAS).

Tracking Impact with Insight: We use the Insight platform to track pupil progress in PE and monitor participation in extra-curricular clubs. This ensures that the funding is directly benefiting all groups of children and helping us close any gaps in physical literacy.

Statutory Reports & Swimming Data:  Below are the mandatory reports detailing our spend, the impact on pupils, and our Year 6 swimming competency data:
